Are you standing too close?

In a world of social distancing, we're expected to keep at least six feet of distance between us and others. However, a six foot gap does not feel natural for daily activities such as conversation, standing in line, or waiting in elevators. Here's a few tips to help you maintain your six foot bubble:

  1. If you can whiff it, you're too close. Common aromas, such as tobacco, cologne or farts should not waft from six feet away. If you're already six feet away and the stench remains, take no chances and leave the premises.

  2. Imagine a bed between you and the next bystander. Specifically, a twin size bed. No need to raise eyebrows, guys: the length of a twin bed is about 6 feet. Sheesh.

  3. Perhaps envision Danny DeVito +1? That's the height of DeVito (5') plus another foot.

  4. Bring it back to gym class basics. So as to not bludgeon your creeper neighbor during an avid Tae Bo kick, your highschool gym instructor would ask everyone extend their arms to make sure nobody touches tips. Yeah, do that. With strangers. Yep.

  5. Use a physical reminder. See photo examples below.
